About DTS-RI

We bridge the gap between imagination and inquiry.

Dream Through STEAM RI is a multidisciplinary hub for any age and any ability. We honor the contributions of African American innovators — past, present, and future — and help every learner imagine their place in the future of discovery.

Through powerful narratives and hands-on experience, we offer Educational Programs, a Traveling Exhibition, Educator Development, and Specialty Programs across Rhode Island and surrounding areas.

Education should empower and reflect diversity — every student should see their potential and envision their place in the future of innovation.

Rachel Briggs, founder of Dream Through STEAM RI

Rachel Briggs

Founder

A proud mother, dedicated educator, & community-minded woman of color.

Meet the Founder

Two decades of bringing learning to life.

With an educational career spanning two decades across a wide variety of settings — classrooms, libraries, recreational centers, residential facilities for foster and adoptive youth, and private events — Rachel empowers the next generation with knowledge and empathy, fostering a sense of cultural understanding.

Her commitment extends beyond the classroom, as she actively engages in community initiatives — including using her storytelling prowess to shine a light on overlooked narratives and to celebrate the richness of Black history.

Voices From The Community

What educators and partners say.

"Rachel is one of those facilitators that immediately catches everyone's attention and holds it. She is captivating, thoughtful, and engaging — able to bring even the most reluctant learner to a place they can most participate. I highly recommend Rachel as a guest speaker, guest teacher, facilitator, or in any role that you want someone who can lead with passion."

Kelly McNiff

Co-founder of The Farm and Forest Education Center

"I've had Rachel in my fourth grade classroom several times and the kids always look forward to it with great anticipation! She has a way of engaging all students so that they are having fun and learning at the same time. She has a way of combining science, history and ELA in creative and exciting ways. Students remember what they learned and connect it to their own lives."

Stacy Gale

4th Grade Teacher, Paul Cuffee School

"Rachel Briggs embodies conservation leadership rooted in joy. Through innovative STEAM programs integrating environmental themes, she inspires Providence youth to use their skills for positive change in a unique and powerful way."
